The Find a Surgeon directory is a listing of active Fellows of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons who meet the requirements of the College's Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Program and have opted to be on the list. This list excludes retired or inactive Fellows.

 

Special Consideration & Reasonable Adjustment for Disability

Each candidate is responsible for determining his/her physical and/or mental fitness to participate in an examination. A candidate has the opportunity to withdraw from sitting the examination should any circumstance have the potential to impact adversely on their performance and failure to do, so where there was an opportunity, will be taken into account when considering applications for special consideration and reasonable adjustment.

Special Consideration

Special consideration may be granted to a candidate who has undertaken or is about to undertake a College examination where illness, bereavement or other serious matter beyond the control of the candidate has had an adverse effect, or has the potential to have an adverse effect on his/her result.

How can I apply for Special Consideration?

Candidates must refer to the Special Consideration Policy for full details on how to apply. All applications must be submitted to the Examinations Department within the required timeline as specified in the Policy and must include the following:

  2. Supporting documentation. Please refer to the Policy for full details.

Please Note: Applications for Special Consideration will not be considered once results have been released.

What if something happens during an examination?

An application for special consideration which relates to an incident that occurred during an examination must provide details of the incident. The incident must also have been brought to the attention of the invigilator, Examiner or College staff member at the examination venue at the time it occurred.

Reasonable Adjustment for Disability

A reasonable adjustment may be granted to a candidate who has applied to present for a College examination where a disability of the candidate had an adverse effect on the candidate's ability to participate in the examination under normal examination conditions.
