Dr Alexander 'Alex' Saxby
Overview
Dr Saxby is a consultant specialist at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney where he works as an otologist and neurotologist. His main areas of interest include endoscopic ear surgery, cochlear implantation and indigenous ear health.
He graduated from Cambridge University Medical School (1st Hons) and later moved to Australia in 2002. After gaining his FRACS in 2011, he spent time with various otology clinics around the world on post-graduate fellowships including: Prof. Linder (Fisch Microsurgery Fellowship) in Luzern, Switzerland; Dr. Vincent in Beziers, France; Prof. Westerberg & Prof. Kozak in Vancouver, Canada and most recently Prof. Marchioni in Verona, Italy and Prof. Sudhoff in Bielefeld, Germany.
He is a member of the International Working Group on Endoscopic Ear Surgery (IWGEES) which promotes discussion and research into the use of endoscopes in ear surgery. He regularly lectures at endoscopic ear surgery courses and meetings internationally. He is a founding member of the Sydney Endoscopic Ear Surgery Research Group (www.sydneyearendoscopy.com) and organizes the EES Courses in Sydney.
He is passionate about closing the gap in health care for Indigenous Australians and runs regular outreach clinics in remote Aboriginal communities in rural Australia.
