Mr Idrees 'Reece' Sher
Overview
Mr Sher is an Australian-trained neurosurgeon and spinal surgeon. He has received extensive training in general neurosurgery, neurooncology, cerebrovascular surgery, and complex spinal surgery from highly regarded institutions including Royal North Shore Hospital, Royal Hobart Hospital, Monash Hospital, Monash Children's Hospital, and Austin Hospital. He has completed a subspecialist combined neurosurgical and orthopaedic complex spinal surgery fellowship at the Austin Hospital. He has also completed a further year as an honorary complex spine surgery fellow at the Alfred Hospital.
Mr Sher is committed to excellence and regularly seeks out world experts in cranial and spinal surgery to train with and exchange ideas. He is committed to offering his patients optimal care by bringing the latest and safest techniques to minimise morbidity and optimise outcomes. Mr Sher believes that if you optimise every variable of a patient's medical and surgical care, then success can be inevitable.
Mr Sher has a keen interest in minimally invasive solutions to cranial and spinal problems. His areas of subspecialty practice include cerebrovascular surgery, neuro-oncology (brain and spine tumour), and spinal reconstructive surgery. Mr Sher also has a keen interest in motion preservation spinal surgery.
Mr Sher has worked in numerous leading tertiary neurosurgical centers in Australia. His current public appointments are at the Monash and Austin Hospitals in Melbourne Victoria. He is accredited at numerous leading private hospitals across Melbourne including Epworth, Cabrini, Jesse MacPherson Private Hospital, Knox Private Hospital, Melbourne Private Hospital, and John Fawkner Hospital.
