Professor Justin Gundara

Overview

Associate Professor Gundara is an academic general surgeon with subspecialty interests in endocrine, hepato-pancreato-biliary and general surgery. He currently maintains a Staff Specialist position with Metro South, QLD Health and has academic appointments with Griffith University and the University of Queensland. He is currently the Clinical Lead in Surgery at Logan Clinical School (Griffith University) and maintains a strong interest in clinical teaching at undergraduate and post graduate levels.

He previously completed a PhD under the supervision of the Sydney University Endocrine Surgical Unit and went on to pursue clinical fellowships in HPB Surgery (Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney, Australia) and endocrine surgery (University College London Hospital, London, United Kingdom). He has published over sixty basic scientific and clinical research papers and has presented at numerous local, national and international forums. He maintains an active research brief and areas of current investigation include translational neuroendocrine tumour epigenetics, rapid clinically relevant hormone assays and the aetio-pathogenesis of pancreatitis.
