Call for Abstracts for the 2018 SA, NT & WA, ASM are now open

The interactive 2 day meeting, combined with the Rural Surgery & Indigenous Health sections, will focus on the above theme. 65% of the surgical workload in Darwin is infection related. Attendees will have the opportunity to listen to local experts in their field including Professor Bart Currie, a tropical infectious disease specialist from the Menzies School of Health Science. A focus on Diabetic foot, ATSI Ear Health, trachoma and much more.

The 2018 Henry Windsor lecture will be delivered as well as a presentation from our Vice President, Dr Catherine Ferguson.

An event in the Northern part of Australia is not complete without having the opportunity to experience the culture and this meeting in the Alice will not disappoint! Thursday 23 August will commence with a welcome event, showcasing local indigenous children playing their music, a Traditional Welcome to Country and an up close and personal experience with the 'wild life'  of central Northern Australia.

The dinner meeting will be held at the Telegraph Station with a stargazing presentation by local experts, and the opportunity to listen to the history of the station... a unique dinner under the stars...

2018 Annual Dinner and Anstey Giles Lecture 

This year's annual event will be held at the Sanctuary, Adelaide Zoo on Friday 9 November 2018. Professor Peter Rathjen, Vice-Chancellor & President of University of Adelaide will deliver the Anstey Giles Lecture. Margorie Hooper Scholarship - This opportunity enables the recipient to reside temporarily outside the State of South Australia, either elsewhere in Australia or overseas, in order to undertake postgraduate studies or for surgeons to travel overseas to learn a new surgical skill for the benefit of the surgical community of South Australia.

WG Norman Research Fellowship - Open to Fellows and Surgical Trainees, resident in South Australia and enrolled in, or intending to enrol in, a higher degree. The research must be based in South Australia and the topic should preferably have a trauma focus.

Active Fellows by specialty and region, as at 31 December 2016

A Fellow is considered active if they are currently involved in any aspect of surgical activity that involves the use of surgical skills or knowledge gained through their surgical training. This extends to and is not exclusive of medico-legal work, research or supervision of Trainees and International Medical Graduates (IMGs).
