The Palmerston Regional Hospital (PRH) is committed to providing comprehensive medical services to the greater Darwin community. The hospital boasts state-of-the-art facilities and a wide range of medical services, including emergency care, general medicine, surgery, and maternal and child health.

The RDH and PRH are seeking dedicated and highly motivated Unaccredited General Surgery Registrar’s to join our dynamic surgical team. As a registrar, you will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced consultants and multidisciplinary teams in a supportive and challenging environment, providing high-quality care to patients in the surgical ward.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for professional development, exposure to a broad range of surgical cases, and hands-on experience in a teaching hospital setting. 

As an Unaccredited General Surgery Registrar you will:
assist in the assessment, management, and treatment of patients referred from the Emergency department and undertake consults for inpatients 
admit, manage and discharge patients from the service under the supervision of surgical consultants/fellows with the aim of providing the highest possible standards of care.
participate in ward rounds, clinics, and multidisciplinary team meetings 
supervise and support junior medical staff 

engage in continuous medical education, training, and research activities 
participate in on-call and weekend shifts as required
Participate in operations under supervision of fellows/surgeons.
Provide medico-legal and other reports under supervision as appropriate.
Assist outreach services to Katherine and Gove hospitals.

To be successful, you must have general registration with AHPRA, have appropriate training and experience applicable to general surgery, be committed to high quality patient care and have a strong ability to communicate.
