The RACS Global Health Scholarships Program provides awards,
fellowships, grants and scholarships to surgeons to fund training
opportunities and facilitate professional contact with medical
personnel. The recipients are from Asia and the Pacific, Australia,
New Zealand, United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland.
The College recognises that there is a shortage of trained and
skilled local specialists in many developing countries in the
Asia-Pacific region. This shortage severely reduces the countries'
capacity to deliver surgical and medical care to their populations.
The overarching goal of the Global Health Scholarship Program is to
improve the health outcomes for disadvantaged communities in the
region, by providing training opportunities to promising
individuals who will contribute to the long-term development of
surgical and medical capacity in their country. This is part of the
College's strategy to increase access to safe surgery and
anaesthesia, alleviating the level of poverty and disability in
developing countries.
Rowan Nicks Fellowships and Scholarships

The Rowan Nicks fellowships and scholarships are offered
annually to young surgeons and anaesthetists who have been
identified as surgical or medical leaders of the future. These
opportunities are tenable in an institution where recipients will
learn the craft of surgery (or anaesthesia), and also become
involved in teaching, research and administration. Read about the
