John Loewenthal Project Grant 2020
The Foundation for Surgery John
Loewenthal Research Scholarship was previously established in
honour of Sir John Loewenthal who served as President of RACS from
1971-1974 and was intended to promote surgical research.
In 2015 it was decided to change the
conditions of the scholarship to broaden its appeal, raise its
profile and increase applications. As a result, it was rescoped and
relaunched as the John Loewenthal Project Grant.
Who can apply
RACS Fellows and Trainees, either as
individuals or as a group wishing to undertake a surgical or
research project with definite aims and outcomes or for funding of
an innovative service or piece of equipment.
Applications must be in order to undertake a surgical research
project with definite aims and outcomes; or for funding of an
innovative service or piece of equipment.

$100,000 per annum
Two years. Continuation subject to satisfactory performance.
