RACS advises that participation in recertification activities cannot ensure competence but it definitely contributes to this. RACS acknowledges the importance of recertification activities and supports the MCNZ's stance that this needs to be profession led and sees this best achieved through the combined efforts of medical colleges, the MCNZ and , where relevant, employers. While all want to strive for best practice, this of course has to be balanced against potential limiting factors such as costs in time and resources.
