The College’s submission recommended greater focus on:
- the relative risks of all the many skin cancers in Aotearoa New Zealand
- the high spend on removing less aggressive non-melanoma skin cancers that have little impact on productivity, whereas the impact of melanoma is much higher
- the current inequity of access, delivery and outcomes for Māori; with increasing incidence of invasive melanoma in Māori, and Māori are more likely to die of melanoma than non-Māori
