Younger Fellows Mentoring Program
Overview
Each year the RACS Younger Fellows Committee facilitates a mentoring program to support early career surgeons, connecting them to Fellows later in their career for an informal mentor relationship. You will be matched with a Fellow experienced in your speciality area or with whichever specific issues you wish to discuss in your sessions.
You can read about how the mentoring program works and some testimonials from those who have taken part on page 24 of the December 2020 edition of Surgical News.
RACS has consulted with mentoring experts and reviewed our mentoring program over a number of years in order to provide a practical toolkit for surgery. In May 2016, RACS published Mentoring: A Practical Guide which provides clear guidance for mentors, mentees and establishing a mentoring relationship. Using this guide, the mentor and mentee are required to set specific guidelines for communication.
