Mentoring Program

The Younger Fellows Committee are piloting a facilitated mentoring program open to all Fellows of the College within their first 10 years of gaining Fellowship. The program is voluntary and a maximum of 20 pairs will be assigned.

RACS have consulted with mentoring experts and reviewed the mentoring programs over a number of years in order to provide a practical toolkit for surgery.

In May 2016 RACS published Mentoring: A Practical Guide which provides clear guidance for mentors, mentees and establishing a mentoring relationship. Using this guide, the mentor and mentee are required to set specific guidelines for communication.

Participants are encouraged to attend the mentoring program as part of the 2018 Annual Scientific Congress in Sydney. Participants are also expected to participate in program evaluation.

Applications close Monday 9 April 2018.
