Do I have to participate in NTASM?
Participation by surgeons is a requirement of the RACS Continuing Professional Development (CPD) program.
If I participate do I have to be a first or second-line assessor?
No. All consultant surgeons can volunteer to be first or second-line assessors. The more assessors there are, the fewer assessments each assessor will receive. We appreciate and recognise the time these assessors give to NTASM.
Are any instructions/guidelines provided for second-line assessors?
Second-line assessments have guidelines on the back of the form and report guidelines are included.
Is the NTASM process confidential?
Yes. All data is de-identified and is securely stored. NTASM reports are covered by qualified privilege (PDF 2.06MB).
How will NTASM know if a patient has died under my care?
NTASM will be notified by the hospital directly or you can self-notify via the Fellows' Interface.
What if I need the medical records to fill out the NTASM surgical case form?
In this case, please contact the medical records department of your hospital.
What do I do after completing the NTASM surgical case form?
Please submit the surgical case form to NTASM electronically using the Fellows Interface.
Who do I contact if I have any queries?
All enquiries can be directed to the NTASM office via telephone on +61 7 3249 2971 or via email at [email protected].
