Do I have to participate in the QASM?
Participation by surgeons is a requirement of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons' CPD program.
Do I have to be a first or second-line assessor?
No. All consultant surgeons can volunteer to be first or second-line assessors. The more assessors there are, the fewer assessments each assessor will receive. We appreciate and recognise the time these assessors give to QASM.
Are there any guidelines provided for second-line assessors?
Second-line assessments have guidelines on the back of the form and report guidelines are included.
Is the QASM process confidential?
Yes. All data is de-identified and is securely stored. QASM reports are covered by Qualified Privilege (PDF 2.06MB).
How will QASM know if a patient has died under my care?
QASM will be notified by the hospital directly or you can self-notify via the Fellows' Interface.
What if I need the medical records to fill out the QASM Surgical Case Form?
Contact the medical records department of your hospital.
What do I do after completing the QASM Surgical Case Form?
Please submit the Surgical Case Form electronically using the Fellows Interface.
Who do I contact if I have any queries?
All enquiries can be directed to the QASM office via telephone on 07 3249 2971 or via email at [email protected].
