The Australian & New Zealand Society of Cardiac & Thoracic Surgeons Annual Scientific Meeting (ANZSCTS ASM) was held at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa, Wellington, Aotearoa New Zealand from 9 to 11 November 2023.
Thanks to the generous support of RACS one of our international keynote speakers, Dr Joseph Bavaria, attended the ANZSCTS ASM.
He presented on a range of topics including state-of-the art bicuspid aortic valve repair in 2023, TAVI in Low Risk Patients: Quo Vadis?, The ascending aorta–stent, and The Globalists Multi-Society Drama of Coronary Artery Guidelines.
Dr Bavaria, MD, FACS, FRCS (Edin) Ad hom, is currently the Brooke Roberts-William M. Measey Professor of Surgery and Vice-Chief, Division of Cardiovascular Surgery at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Dr Bavaria was the 52nd president of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons. He is the president of the Thoracic Surgery Foundation and the International Councilor of the European Association of Cardiothoracic Surgery). He is the founder-director of the PENN Aorta Center, which is a multidisciplinary program encompassing all aspects of aortic disease including thoracic aortic reconstruction and syndromic conditions. Additionally, Dr. Bavaria's clinical interests include a very busy program in the field of thoracic aortic endovascular repair.
