How is robotic technology transforming the landscape of colorectal surgery, and what does this mean for both surgeons and patients? Colorectal surgeon and keynote speaker, Assistant Professor Havish Srinath from Tweed Heads District Hospital in News South Wales will be speaking on this topic at the upcoming RACS WA South West General Surgery Conference 2024. The conference will be held from 22 to 24 November at the Bunbury Regional Entertainment Centre, Western Australia.
Convened by general surgeons Dr. Nikhil Agrawal, Dr. Jacinta Cover, Dr. Marcus Ong and Dr. Tina Dilevska, this year's conference theme ‘Learn. Share. Transcend’, is open to Fellows, Trainees, SIMGs and healthcare professionals with a passion for surgery. The conference promises a comprehensive program designed to facilitate knowledge sharing and professional growth—while keeping abreast of the latest developments in General Surgery.
Two workshops on Transcystic Bile Duct Exploration and Trauma will be held concurrently on Friday 22 November. This will be followed on Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 November sessions on trauma, colorectal surgery, upper GI / hepatobiliary, breast / genetics, rural surgery, Australian and New Zealand Emergency Laparotomy Audit (ANZELA), and a complex patient symposium.
As part of the breast / genetics session, delegates will hear from Amy Pearn, a registered genetic counsellor from the Gene Council. She will provide insights on the latest developments in genetic testing and its role in offering a multi-disciplinary approach to patient care.
