Overview

The Orthopaedic Principles and Basic Sciences (OPBS) Examination is a summative assessment of a candidate’s knowledge, understanding and application of the basic sciences relevant to Orthopaedic Surgery early in their surgical training.

Please note that registration for this exam closes at 11.59am (AEDT) on the closing date stipulated, late registrations will not be accepted under any circumstances.

Prepare

This area provides guidance on what to study for the examination.

Sitting the exam

Candidates are required to arrive at the examination venue at least 30 minutes before the examination start time with photo identification. This examination is delivered electronically.

Results

Candidates are awarded a result of pass or fail only for the examination. Results are available in the RACS Portfolio and via email approximately four weeks after the examination.
