Clinical Examination

Overview 

The Clinical Examination (CE) is a practical exam that assesses clinical application of basic sciences, as well as technical and non-technical competencies. It’s an Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) consisting of 16 five-minute stations designed to test your applied knowledge of the clinical conditions and scenarios you may encounter as a junior doctor working in a hospital.

Four station types assess physical examination, communication skills, history taking and procedural skills.

Registration

The June Clinical Exam is scheduled for Sunday 22 June 2025.

Please note that registration for this exam opens and closes at 11:59AM AEDT/AEST (VIC time zone) on the dates stipulated. Late registrations will not be accepted under any circumstance.

As per the clinical examination policy, candidates will be allocated a session according to nominated preferences at the time of registration. Preferences cannot be guaranteed if minimum capacity is not achieved, or preferences exceed the maximum capacity requirements. Early registration is recommended as capacity limits apply.

Your place in the examination, venue and time are not guaranteed and are subject to change at the discretion of the Examinations department Manager or the Clinical Examinations Subcommittee.

Confirmation of session allocation

Candidates will receive a formal venue confirmation notice and session time after the closing date and after any necessary adjustments are made (approximately three weeks after registrations close). Candidates are advised not to make travel plans until their allocated session is advised and confirmed.
