• Policy and guideline

    Recipients are required to:

    - present their research at the annual meeting of the Surgical Research Society of Australasia (or an agreed equivalent) at least once during, or in the 12 months following, the scholarship period.

  • Who can apply?

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to be:

    - a RACS Fellow, Specialist International Medical Graduate (SIMG) or SET Trainee OR
    - a non RACS member with a special interest in the field who is sponsored by a RACS Fellow 

    Applicants must be enrolled (or intending to enrol) in a higher degree such as a Masters, PhD or equivalent, with the research topic relevant to ethical issues confronting surgery.

  • Activity

    Your research project needs to focus on ethical issues confronting surgery and be undertaken within a higher degree at an approved research institute under the supervision of an experienced investigator.

    RACS has an established Environmental Sustainability in Surgical Practice Working Party. Scholarship recipients wishing to conduct research in this area are encouraged to join the working party, and to discuss their research with fellow working party members.

    - your research proposal including and proposed budget.

  • Selection and awarding

    Selection

    - assessment is via written application with shortlisted applicants invited to interview.

    - the selection panel is comprised of representatives of the Scholarship and Grant Committee.

    Awarding

    This scholarship is comprised of a stipend component and a departmental component and will be paid to the administering institution following receipt of a valid tax invoice. Payment will be made in one instalment prior to 1 March in the scholarship year.
