The Catherine Marie Enright Kelly Memorial Research Scholarship supports surgeons and Trainees who wish to take time away from clinical positions to undertake a research project under the supervision of an experienced investigator.

  • Policy and guideline

    Recipients are required to:

    - present their research at the annual meeting of the Surgical Research Society of Australasia (or an agreed equivalent) at least once during or in the 12 months following the scholarship period.

  • Who can apply?

    To be eligible for this scholarship, you need to be:

    - a RACS Fellow, Specialist International Medical Graduate (SIMG) or SET Trainee
    - enrolled (or intending to enrol) in a higher degree such as a Masters, PhD or equivalent

  • Activity
    Your activity needs to focus on a research project undertaken at an approved research institute under the supervision of an experienced investigator.

  • Tenure

    1 year

    - your career and employment details

    - your research proposal and proposed budget

     

     

  • Selection and awarding

    Selection

    - Assessment is via written application with shortlisted applicants invited to interview.

    - The selection panel is comprised of representatives of the Scholarship and Grant Committee.

    Awarding

    - This scholarship is comprised of a stipend component and departmental component and will be paid to the administering institution following receipt of a valid tax invoice. Payments will be made in one instalment prior to 1 March in the scholarship year.
