After completing your specialist assessment, the next step is to obtain a hospital position which will assess of your clinical practice. It is your responsibility to find a suitable position.
Medical recruitment agencies seek appropriately qualified doctors to fill positions all over Australia. For more information visit the Medical Recruitment website at the link below. RACS also have a recruitment area of the website advertising surgical vacancies.
Some online medical journals advertise vacant positions. The Medical Journal of Australia has a webpage dedicated to medical careers.

Position description
IMGs that have been assessed as partially or substantially comparable are required to undertake workplace based clinical assessment in a position approved by RACS. Decisions regarding assessment post accreditation are made by the Specialty Board of the specialty in which an IMG is being assessed.
When you find a position the Specialty Board will determine whether the position is suitable for clinical assessment purposes.
RACS has prepared an IMG Post Description Form (DOCX 37.26KB) which will need to be completed by the hospital and returned to the Department of IMG Assessments via email for approval by the Specialty Board before clinical assessment can be commenced.
