Morbidity audits
For over 20 years, RACS has created and managed clinical audit databases, and supported Fellows in improving and maintaining standards of surgical care.
Oversight is provided by specific committees for each audit.
Overview
Our audits aim to improve quality of care for patients by establishing the current status of clinical care and assessing whether performance meets existing standards. The audit data collected is then used for learning and quality improvement.
Surgical audit involves:
- the collection of clinical activity and outcome data
- the analysis and comparison of standards, performance indicators and outcome parameters
- peer review to identify areas of potential improvement
- facilitating self-reflection through audit results and feedback.
