On this page
Usage
The use of MALT is mandatory for the duration of training.
Logbooks
Fellows undertaking the AANZGOSA Post Fellowship Training Program are allocated the Gastric & Oesophageal Surgery Logbook and are required to use this logbook for the duration of their training.
This logbook will be allocated in addition to existing logbooks such as the SET - General Surgery logbook and the Fellow - General Surgery logbook.
Supervisors
MALT uses the terms Nominated Supervisor and Alternate Supervisor. Supervisors can view cases for those they are supervising and provide comments on specific cases.
Nominated Supervisor refers to the hospital supervisor.
Alternate Supervisor refers to the surgeon in theatre with the Trainee during a procedure.
Individual cases do not require supervisor approval from within the MALT system (see approval process below).
Hospitals
Record cases done in all hospitals (both accredited and unaccredited).
Procedures
This logbook utlises the SNOMED CT-AU reference set with selected terms identified by the Training Board as board reporting terms (XLSX 4.28MB).
MDT meetings
Totals for these can be manually added to the report after it has been printed and prior to submission.
Approval process
Cases move through a non-supervisory workflow progression from 'draft' to 'completed'.
- Fill in and save the case (draft).
- Ensure all cases are marked as complete (completed).
- Generate the Logbook Summary Report.
- Submit the Logbook Summary Report to the AANZGOSA Executive Officer twice yearly (at six and 12 months). Please note that the report should only contain cases with a 'completed' status.
