Interim Assessment
Information about the 'Interim Assessment' - the RACS recommendations when assessing an IMG's surgery qualifications and experience.
Overview
The Interim Assessment forms the basis for the term of clinical assessment of the IMG surgeon's practice. The recommendation is made following a document based assessment and/or interview. The Interim Assessment is approved by the Board of Surgical Education and Training (BSET). The Interim Assessment cannot be altered during the term of clinical assessment without approval by BSET.
The classifications which arise from the documentary assessment and/or interview are:
- Not comparable to an Australian or New Zealand trained surgeon
- Partially comparable to an Australian or New Zealand trained surgeon
- Substantially comparable to an Australian or New Zealand trained surgeon
